Whistle Tutorial
Posted by Vickie Close on Dec 16th 2016
One of the hardest things for people, learning to run a sheep dog is their whistles. Some struggle, and never learn to whistle, while others choose a set of whistles, and take the time to teach them to their dog, only to learn latter that they choose poorly. For example their Come By whistle may be a low tone followed by a high tone, while their Away To Me, is a high tone, followed by a low tone. If their dog misses the first part of the whistle, due to bad hearing conditions, it unfortunately may go the wrong way. Another issue is tone, and volume, some whistles just don't have a very nice or consistent tone, or they are not loud enough to carry a long distance. While we all want our dogs to be good listeners we still need a whistle that will have the volume to not let us down when the weather, wind or conditions are not favorable.
Fortunately there is help. We have a Free Whistle Tutorial, with a solid set of whistles that you can learn, use and teach your dog, by Norman Close and you are going to love the new Blue Bird whistles they are easy to blow, with exceptional volume and tone.
You can go to the whistle page and listen to your free tutorial, or find it in the learning center.

"This is really an awesome whistle. It has a crisp, clear musical tone, and is so effortless to blow that it is easy to get consistent sounds, which is always the hardest part for us novice whistlers. Highly recommend it for anyone, but particularly for folks who are struggling to get their dogs...and themselves...on whistles. This one will make it easy." Karyl Hansen
