A Purpose

A Purpose

Posted by Vickie Close on Feb 10th 2017

"He's a rescue" she beamed, as I pondered the statement it occurred to me that never before have people desired to have a purpose, like they do in our world today.

They seem almost desperate to make a difference, or to save something. Some save whales or trees, feed the poor, rescue mustangs, wear pink for cancer, dump water on their heads, wear embarrassing hats or run marathons. They do this to give their life purpose, to show support, or make a change.  I have to admit the idea of 'saving the day" appeals to me. I day dream that  I appear just in the nick of time to make my daring and dramatic rescue of a cold and starving something, always just in the nick of time.... I want to make a difference, I want my life to benefit others. The idea of clothing, feeding and comforting people and animals appeals to me very much.

Imagine being able to providing comfort, food, warmth, clothing, shelter and even companionship to people and  animals, all over the world, how rewarding and what a wonderful purpose, and such is the life of a sheep.  They grow clothes!!  They make milk and cheese and coats and hats. They feed the poor and the rich. They produce mittens, wonderful, colorful, mittens and fun balls to dry your cloths and lanolin for you hands. Every spring they get a refreshing hair cut, that leaves them white as snow, light and clean, in turn humans get warmth, comfort and more. It is a glorious partnership. When you buy wool products you hire a shepherd, you hire a dog, and you hire a sheep, a wonderful way of life continues. Thank you, it's a good life!
